At the top of our lineup this week is the news that the Lone Star state will get a chance to host the National Rifle Association for its Annual Meetings & Exhibits after all, as the location of the 2022 NRA Show will now be in Houston, Texas over Memorial Day weekend, May 27-29, 2022. Get the details here

Speaking of Texas ... Waterfowl season is a big deal in Texas; it's a social gathering where hunters get together and have fun. People have cookouts and barbecues that might even conclude in a big party with music and dancing. However, amidst all the fun, it’s important to stay legal and hunt ethically. Here's what you need to know.

National Rifle Association Executive Vice President/CEO Wayne LaPierre was re-elected by the NRA Board of Directors at their meeting Saturday, October 2, in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Annual Meeting of Members preceded the board meeting, as the NRA celebrated its 150-year anniversary. Read the rest here.

At minimum, every shooter needs to know the common range commands that are used by the RSO to keep the range safe. Failing to follow range commands can put everyone, shooters and the RSO alike, at risk of serious bodily injury or worse. Every shooter needs to become familiar with the common range commands used to ensure a range runs safely and efficiently. Don't miss the seven range commands you need to know.

There's something of an evolution that takes place when an expert shooter reaches the top of her game; a moment when she realizes that the only way to keep ascending is to lift others up with us. Taurus pro shooter Jessie Harrison is one such competitive shooter at the top of her game, and her recent win at last weekend’s Atlanta Arms Georgia State USPSA Championships provides all the proof

As we continue recognizing the achievements of the NRA and its members over the past 150 years, I want to share the heroic deeds of one NRA Training Counselor. Faced with a dire emergency during one of her courses, Suzanne Freehauf remained calm and acted quickly to save the life of her student, David Asmuth, who was experiencing a severe medical situation. Read about Freehauf's heroism here.

Have you ever watched a pro shooter like Team Smith & Wesson's Julie Golob swap out her magazines on the fly and thought to yourself, "If only I could do that"? The fact of the matter is that you can! Although Golob is a world-class shooter with a roomful of trophies who can reload almost quickly enough to fool the eye ... she was a beginner once herself. Check out S&W's latest GUNSMARTS video here!

In the Spring of 2018, former USPSA President Mike Voigt passed away, leaving a legacy in USPSA, the firearms industry, professional training and those who had the pleasure of shooting, working and traveling with Mike on his journey. After Mike’s passing, his wife Maggie Reese Voigt worked with USPSA President Mike Foley to ensure funds received in Voigt’s name would be used specifically for the benefit of junior members of USPSA. It is with great pride that USPSA announces the second recipient of the Michael Voigt Presidential Education Program Award, Bridget Cunningham from Longview, Texas.
