NRA Women The Armed Citizen Aiming A Pistol

A domestic disturbance occurred when a man with a history of domestic assault physically assaulted a woman. During the altercation, the woman feared for her life and shot the man. The wounded man fled the scene in a car stolen from the woman, driving himself to a hospital. There he was arrested and charged for strangulation, assault and theft of a motor vehicle. After playing basketball with friends at a local park, a woman and her boyfriend walked to their car, which was parked a block away. The woman was sitting in the passenger’s seat while her boyfriend chatted with a friend at the rear of the vehicle. A man passed by, drew a firearm and began to shoot at the boyfriend. The woman was able to draw her own 9 mm handgun and return fire to save her boyfriend’s life. She was unable to hit the shooter, so the couple hid behind the car as the attacker fired more shots at them before fleeing. The male victim sustained a gunshot wound, but the woman was unharmed. She drove her boyfriend to the nearest fire station for medical attention. The perpetrator, who was arrested the following day, had a previous drug trafficking conviction, making him ineligible to own a firearm. (readingeagle.com, Reading, Pa., 03/14/22)
