A woman was assaulted by her ex-boyfriend when she attempted to retrieve their three young children and some of her belongings from his house. She was able to leave, but came back later with a female friend for support. When the women arrived, the man began hitting and threatening his ex-girlfriend. Upon seeing that her abusive ex was armed, the woman drew her firearm. They exchanged gunfire, which resulted in all three adults being shot. The two women, who suffered non-life-threatening injuries, were able to drive to a nearby Waffle House for help. The ex-boyfriend was later discovered at a hospital where he had gone to be treated for his wounds. It was there that he was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and felon in possession of a handgun. (fox17.com, Nashville, Tenn., 03/10/22)
