NRA Women The Armed Citizen Shooting A Pistol

The following accounts of brave women who defended their friends and family with a firearm appeared in an earlier edition of The Armed Citizen®.

A woman shot the father of her child in her home while he was assaulting her to the point that she feared for her life. News reports say that deputies are calling it a case of self-defense. Here’s what we know: Deputies were summoned to a home just after 9:30 p.m. on a Sunday, and when they arrived, they found the 49-year-old alleged attacker dead at the scene. Further information included previous recent charges filed against the man for domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature, and assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature against the same woman. The suspect had been released on a $60,000 bond.  (wyff4.com; Pickens County, S.C.; 8/24/24)

Tucson, Arizona, woman took matters into her own hands by shooting a registered sex offender who was breaking into her home, according to reports. Phoenix news reported that the incident occurred at a home where a 54-year-old woman was home alone. It was then that a 42-year-old man allegedly tried to break into her home. When the woman saw him attempting to enter yelled at him to leave, but he reportedly continued to gain access to the home. "The female armed herself with a handgun and fired a shot out of a window to attempt to scare the male away," investigators total local news. The would-be intruder then allegedly reached into the home and toward the woman to take the gun away, the station reported. That is when the homeowner, in fear for her life, fired at the man, fatally striking him. The man reportedly succumbed to his wounds in the woman’s driveway. The woman was not hurt in the incident. According to reports by the sheriff’s department’s website, the aggressor turned out to be a registered sex offender in the state of Utah. (fox10Phoenix; Tucson, Arizona; 8/17/23)
