A woman was exiting her vehicle at about 8:30 p.m. to walk home when two strangers approached and asked to use her phone. After telling them she didn’t have a phone, one suspect pointed a gun at the woman and demanded her car keys and money. The victim gave the muggers her keys and cash, but the gun-wielding suspect was distracted as his accomplice entered the vehicle. At that point, the victim was able to draw her own firearm and fire at the carjacker, hitting him in the leg. The carjacker—who turned out to be only 13 years old—fled with the other suspect, but he was eventually found and remanded into juvenile custody. (kmov.com, St. Louis, Mo., 11/09/21)
