A woman's ex-boyfriend had been stalking her, and one night broke into her home armed with a pry bar, handcuffs, binoculars and knives. Forcing himself on her, she fought back and ordered him to stop. When he persisted, she fired her handgun in self-defense, hitting him in his jaw. The intruder allegedly spit out several teeth. The woman held the man at gunpoint until police arrived. The shooting was ruled justifiable, as the woman had a history of issues with the stalker. Investigators determined she was within her rights to protect herself in her own home. The man was taken to the hospital and then arrested, charged with domestic violence, second degree stalking and attempted burglary. (elmoreautauganews.com, Elmore, Ala., 05/04/22)
