A 24-year-old man landed in the hospital with a gunshot injury to his neck after a violent confrontation with his ex-girlfriend, 19, and three other women—including his mother. The man allegedly had gone with his mother to the home of his ex to collect his belongings. While there, he became enraged and attacked not only his ex-girlfriend, but his 52-year-old mother, as well as a 43-year-old woman and her 38-year-old wife, who were also at the home. In an effort to stop the attack, the 38-year-old woman drew a .380-cal. pistol and fired at the man. Unfortunately, the gunshots instead struck her wife twice, hitting her in the thigh and buttocks. The man then reportedly attacked the armed woman, fighting with her over her gun. As the pair struggled, they ended up in the parking lot, where the woman was able to fire a shot, hitting him in the side of his neck. The abusive man and the 43-year-old injured woman were taken to the hospital. The man suffered injuries, while the woman’s were considered non-life-threatening. The man was ultimately released from the hospital and charged with three counts of assault on a female. The district attorney deemed the shooting of the woman’s wife to be accidental, and her actions against the aggressor to have been in self-defense, thus she was not charged.
