NRA Women The Armed Citizen Aiming A Pistol

A woman was able to thwart a potentially deadly situation when a strange man made his way into her house, according to reports. But the homeowner was armed, and although it remains unclear if she discharged her firearm or just brandished it long enough to frighten off the suspect, the fact is she defended herself with a handgun. The man reportedly ran from the scene, and as of this writing, is still at large. There were no injuries or property damage reported during the incident. Local police are urging people to take precautions to protect themselves and their property, regardless of how safe a neighborhood is considered. “Make sure that your doors are locked to your house, your doors are locked to your cars," said Fruita Police Department Lieutenant Nick Peck. "A lot of times people will have garage openers in their cars, so you want to make sure your house and cars are locked. Ring cameras are great because they give us information that we can use, keeping an eye on your neighbor’s property as well. And then immediately call 9-1-1 any time that you see something suspicious, or if you hear something suspicious. Don’t wait to report it.”(Kjct8.com; Grand Junction, CO; 1/22/24)
