In a fight that involves a Pogo stick and a firearm, chances are the firearm will win every time. That’s what happened when a group of several men and women were involved in what is being described as a disturbance. During the fight, one woman charged at another with a large metal Pogo stick—but the intended target was armed with handgun. Fearing for her life, the woman fired one shot at the aggressor, hitting her in the chest. After an investigation, the District Attorney’s office confirmed that no charges would be filed, as it was deemed the shooter acted in self-defense. (journalnow.com; Winston-Salem, N.C.; 3/29/23)

A woman was home alone with her infant child when she heard intruders in the house. She called 9-1-1 to report armed men in her home, telling the operator she was also armed with a shotgun. The men advanced toward her and she fired into the hallway, hitting one of the intruders. They fled the scene but police later found a juvenile being treated at a hospital for a gunshot wound. The adult man who brought him in was arrested on two counts of aggravated burglary and aggravated assault. (chattanoogan.com, Chattanooga, Tenn., 03/15/22)

A Texas mother heard a man attempting to force entry into the main portion of her home from the attached laundry room. Her children were home at the time. She armed herself and fatally shot the intruder to protect her family. No one else in the home was harmed. (nypost.com, San Antonio, Texas, 05/02/22)
