A Texarkana woman was about to head to work, walking to her car around 6:30 a.m. from her apartment complex. That’s when she spotted her ex-boyfriend across the parking lot, who apparently was stalking her. Although she quickly tried reach the safe haven of her vehicle, the man was faster, and managed to push the car door open and climb inside.

The ex-boyfriend allegedly commented on how the woman was dressed, then began to attack her in the front seat. Things escalated exponentially when the man attempted to shave her head with a pair of electric clippers he had brought with him. During those moments, the woman suffered cuts to her forehead and neck. The ex continued to attack the woman, but she was able to grab her pistol she had stashed in her center console, firing once at him. As he ran away, he reportedly fell several times. The woman called 9-1-1. The man was found within minutes by firefighters after he surrendered from a nearby enclosed patio at an apartment building, where he had been hiding. The man, who indeed had been shot once in the torso, began yelling for help. He was taken to a hospital, where he underwent surgery for the non-life-threatening injury.

After he is released from the hospital, the man will be arrested on stalking and aggravated assault charges, as well as three previous felony probation revocation warrants. The woman, whom police say was acting in self-defense, will not be charged. (click2houston.com; Texarkana, Texas; 8/23/23)
