The following accounts of brave armed women who defended themselves appeared in earlier editions of The Armed Citizen®:
A 25-year-old woman was waiting at a bus stop when a man approached her, displayed a weapon and attempted to rob her. Unfortunately for him, the woman was a licensed concealed-carry holder and, in fear for her life, drew her firearm and shot the man once, striking him. Surveillance cameras located at a nearby pharmacy documented the lead up to the exchange, as well as the aftermath, which showed the man and woman running in opposite directions. The 19-year-old perpetrator was found a block away and was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead from a gunshot wound to the chest. The woman was not charged. A woman frightened off an intruder who was breaking into her home through a window. The woman told authorities that around midnight she heard glass breaking from the upper level of the house. Upon investigating, she discovered a man standing in the area of the home’s back door. Having armed herself, the woman told the man not to enter the house, but he ignored her orders. At that point, she fired her gun twice in the man’s direction. The 20-year-old suspect was not hit, and deputies were able to arrest him and book him into jail, charging him with home invasion and burglary. The woman was not injured.
