In what might have been a drug-fueled manic state, a man attempted to break into his ex-girlfriend’s house. The woman armed herself while the man shouted threats at her and eventually broke a window with a hand drill. In fear for her life, the brave resident pointed her firearm at him. The man proceeded to lie on the sidewalk in front of her house while the woman kept her firearm pointed at him until police arrived. The perpetrator did not cooperate with officers but was eventually arrested. (everythinglubbock.com, Lubbock, Texas, 03/03/22)

A woman was in her home when she heard a conversation outside between two people. Suddenly, gunshots rang out, with multiple rounds of 7.62 mm and 9 mm ammunition fired into the house. The woman fired back, causing them to flee. Fortunately, all eight people in the house at the time of the shooting were not harmed. After locating the suspects in their car just a few streets away, a police pursuit ensued. The criminals refused to comply with police orders to pull over and eventually crashed the car. Among the evidence found in the vehicle by police were live 7.62 mm and 9 mm rounds. Both suspects were taken to the hospital, and  were ultimately arrested for multiple crimes including reckless endangerment and eight counts of attempted second degree murder. The driver was also charged with reckless driving, evading arrest and not having a driver’s license. (wreg.com, Memphis, Tenn., 01/26/22)
