NRA Women The Armed Citizen Shooting A Pistol

The following accounts of brave armed women appeared in earlier editions of The Armed Citizen®.

A jealous ex-boyfriend broke into a woman’s home around 3 a.m. in an attempt to kill her current boyfriend. As the two men struggled, the woman armed herself and shot the attacker, fearing for her boyfriend’s life. The intruder was taken to the hospital with serious injuries after the bullet passed through his arm and into his ribcage. The male victim sustained minor injuries from the attack. Initial findings suggested that the woman acted in self-defense to protect herself and her partner. (cowboystatedaily.com, Riverton, Wyo., 05/23/22)

A Virginia homeowner was leaving her home around midnight on a Thursday when she saw a masked man coming toward her from the side of her home. Fearing for her life, the woman, a concealed-carry holder, drew her firearm and fired at the man. When police arrived, they found the man collapsed near the front door, with a loaded handgun in his possession. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died from his wounds. The woman was unharmed, and did not face charges, as the shooting was deemed a justifiable act of self-defense. (theblaze.com, Woodbridge, Va., 07/23/21)

In a domestic violence incident that occurred around 2:30 a.m., a man punched a woman and her baby. Fearing for her life, the woman shot the abusive man. He was transported to the hospital in stable condition, and the woman and child were treated at a children’s hospital. The woman was not charged. (abc6onyourside.com, Columbus, Ohio, 06/06/21)
