A 19-year-old man was shot while he was allegedly trying to break into his neighbor’s home, a 26-year-old woman. The incident occured after she yelled at him from her home for noise disturbance. Here's what allegedly happened: Police were called at about 7 a.m. to a townhouse after it was reported that a man with a knife was smashing the windows of a woman’s home. Before police even arrived, the woman allegedly shot the man, inflicting a single gunshot wound to the neck. After emergency surgery, the aggressive intruder was listed in stable condition.

Preliminary reports indicate the woman heard what she believed to be a domestic dispute in the adjoining townhome. She allegedly knocked on the wall, asking them to lower their volume. But apparently the man did not appreciate the request, so he exited his home with a knife. That’s when he reportedly began to break the woman’s window, causing the woman to fear for her life and fire her gun at him. She subsequently called 9-1-1.

The incident remains under investigation, but police indicate that the woman was acting in self-defense. (mlive.com; Jackson, MI; September 22, 2023)
