Every year, Winchester Deadly Passion's Melissa Bachman greets deer season at Deer Meadows Outfitters, one of her favorite spots in the world for monster muley bucks. Over the seasons she has racked up a fantastic track record at this Elysian fields of deer, but this year brings something new: the 6.8 Western cartridge.

“It has the straight trajectory of a 6.5 Creedmoor with the knockdown power of a .300 Win. Mag.," says Bachman of the 6.8 Western. "This Winchester cartridge was developed for longer shots, and that’s exactly what I was facing."

She has the outfitter, she has the guide, and she has the gun and ammo. What she doesn't have, on the other hand, is a guarantee. That's because this is hunting, and even as Melissa has learned from the muleys over the years, they've been learning from her too.

“I’m here during the Nebraska opener, which is prime rut time," enthuses Bachman. The bucks are running and chasing does and you just have to be patient with them. Luckily, I am good at being patient!” she says.

Tune in for an all-new episodes of Winchester Deadly Passion, Season 10, on Sportsman Channel Sundays at 11:30 a.m. ET for the rest of this exciting episode!
