How do you promote the shooting sports to a new generation when you don’t have any ammunition for them to shoot? That’s the dilemma facing the Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) in 2021, but there’s excellent news: Winchester Ammunition has the solution. The company has supported SCTP from the very beginning, and has answered every challenge with increased support. Now at the highest level of sponsorship, Winchester is committed to helping SCTP promote gun safety, good sportsmanship and the pure joy of shooting clays to junior shooters.

It’s really not a moment too soon; the shooting sports continue to see an unprecedented level of participation in 2021. The challenge has been meeting this increased demand for ammunition during a time of unprecedented ammo shortages. Many scholastic clays shooting teams weren’t sure they’d be able to continue shooting. Winchester answered the call—did they ever!—by sending shotshells by the truckload all across the country.

Winchester’s deeply appreciated support has earned them the exclusive title of the official ammunition of the Scholastic Clay Target Program. In fact, Winchester is the official ammunition of the SCTP International Team, which is comprised of the top 15 SCTP youth shooters across the country in the international disciplines.

The Scholastic Clay Target Program has had incredible success establishing youth shooting teams across the country, recruiting a very diverse group of young men and women and teaching them how fun the shooting sports are. The program is led by over 3,500 coaches, and more than 18,000 young athletes compete through SCTP.

“Winchester has a proud history of supporting recreational shooting opportunities for our consumers and remains the industry leader there today,” said Matt Campbell, vice president of sales and marketing for Winchester Ammunition. “When you attend an SCTP event, it’s clear that the future of recreational and competitive shooting is bright and in good hands.”

“It has certainly been an interesting year for our program, but we have adapted and kept kids shooting all across the United States,” said Tom Wondrash, SCTP national executive director. “The overall support provided by Winchester Ammunition is unprecedented and certainly appreciated. Our athletes and coaches on the SCTP International Team are excited to have the Winchester Ammunition brand and products as part of the team’s events.”
