A girl likes what a girl likes—at least that’s what the 750 women who attended the A Girl & A Gun 2025 National Conference proved as their guns and gear were logged in during a comprehensive Gear Check process. Although various models of Glocks—specifically the G19, G34 and G17—collectively gave the manufacturer the highest representation among brands, AG&AG reports that the Walther PDP F-Series retained its individual top spot for a second consecutive year as the ladies’ preferred overall pistol.
This suggests two things: 1) Many gun manufacturers like Glock, Walther, SIG Sauer, Smith & Wesson and others, which also had strong representation among the 1,028 pistols checked in, have committed to delivering the features in firearms that women prefer, and 2) Once a woman finds her gun, she is keeping it and training with it, becoming proficient with it for everyday carry and home defense. Sure, there are outliers that many women will tout as the better choice (and for some women, that may be true—only she knows). Also, many women own multiple handguns. But the fact that the results of this year’s Gear Check (as least as it relates to handguns) closely mimic those of previous years’ tells us that many participants returned to their annual conference with the same firearms as the previous year. Translation: They have identified the right gun(s) for them—a philosophy that NRA Women applauds and has for years substantiated with its Ladies Pistol Projects.
NRA Women is grateful to AG & AG and all its attendees for at this year’s conference for providing this invaluable, unbiased insight for women who are seeking advice on finding their ideal firearms and gear.
There is much more information to glean from the very detailed, brand-specific post-conference report, including the participants preferred optics, holsters, magazines, apparel, eye and ear protection, as well as their favorite shotguns and rifles. You can read it all here.
