CZ-USA's Redhead Premier shotgun, a shooter's favorite for many years due to its reliability and versatility, has just lightened up a little ... well, the perceived recoil has, anyway! The company has just announced that a new 16-gauge model is joining the Redhead Premier line, and recoil-sensitive shooters everywhere are rejoicing.
The 16-gauge isn't a "new" chambering, of course; once upon a time a 16-gauge shotgun was the top choice for knowledgeable upland hunters and recreational shooters. That's because, as the conventional wisdom of the time had it, the 16 gauge "carries like a 20 but hits like a 12." That conventional wisdom never got any less wise, but the 16-gauge fell out of popularity for a while ... but that trend has reversed in a very big way.
