A woman defended herself with a firearm after an armed intruder tried to force his way inside her Brandon, Fla., apartment early one Sunday morning. Around 4:30 a.m., the woman heard a knock at the door and went to answer. As she cracked open the door, an intruder with a handgun pushed it open and became belligerent with the woman. He then confronted a male who was inside the apartment, shooting him and hitting him in the lower body. Fearing for her life, the woman retreated to the bedroom and armed herself with a firearm before returning to the living room. The armed man continued to argue with the woman, then opened fire on her too. However,  the woman returned fire on the gunman, delivering a fatal wound. The woman was not injured. Authorities believe the incident was domestic in nature, as the woman and intruder knew each other. At the time of this writing, no charges had been filed. (patch.com, Brandon, Fla., 08/10/2020)

A woman heard a knock at her Port Arthur, Texas, apartment door and when she opened it, found a naked man standing outside. As the man proceeded to enter the residence without the woman's permission, she responded to his uninvited entry by producing a firearm and shooting him. The shot struck the man, prompting him to leave. The woman then called police who, upon arrival, found the naked man nearby with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his lower extremities. The man was transported to a local hospital for treatment, and no arrests were made in the incident. (12 News Now, Beaumont, Texas, 07/20/2020
