NRA Women The Armed Citizen Shooting A Pistol

A 25-year-old Illinois woman was sitting in her vehicle at 1 a.m. when a man approached her and brandished a firearm. In fear for her life, the woman, who was also armed, discharged her firearm and struck the man. Responding police officers and emergency personnel administered life-saving efforts, but were unsuccessful. The 50-year-old man succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead at the scene. After an investigation, the St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office declined to charge the woman who defended herself.  (riverbender.com; 7/13/25; Bellville, IL)
