A 25-year-old Illinois woman was sitting in her vehicle at 1 a.m. when a man approached her and brandished a firearm. In fear for her life, the woman, who was also armed, discharged her firearm and struck the man. Responding police officers and emergency personnel administered life-saving efforts, but were unsuccessful. The 50-year-old man succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead at the scene.
