A 51-year-old man, armed with a shovel and a lug wrench, forced his way into the home of a Louisiana woman who was home with her two young children. The incident, which occurred at about 5 a.m., resolved when the woman allegedly shot the perpetrator, killing him. The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s office concluded that the case was likely a "homeowner exercising Second Amendment rights to protect herself and her children from a violent home invasion." It turns out that the intruder was out on parole after serving 20 years for armed robbery. He was also discovered to be connected to an alleged carjacking that took place just hours prior to the home invasion. No arrests have been made. (cbsnews.com; Tangipahoa Parish, La.; 1/10/23)
