Houston patrol officers responded to a shooting/stabbing incident at an apartment complex, where they discovered a man suffering from gunshot wounds to his face and lower body. The man had allegedly been holding his 11-year-old daughter at knife point in the kitchen, prompting the girl’s mother to retrieve her firearm in order to save her daughter from being injured or killed. The man charged at his wife in an attempt to grab her firearm, cutting her with the knife as he advanced. The two struggled, causing the firearm to discharge. After being transported to a hospital, the man was treated and released, as was the woman. Fortunately their child did not sustain physical injuries. The man was ultimately charged with two counts of aggravated assault of a family member. (mytexasdaily.com; June 6, 2024; Houston, TX)
