NRA Women The Armed Citizen Shooting A Pistol

A woman, nine months pregnant, bravely acted in self-defense when she used a firearm to fight off an aggressive intruder—the father of her 2-year-old daughter as well as their unborn child. According to local reports, police allege that the woman’s former partner, 36, was trying to gain entry into her home after she had ended the relationship. The victim told police that her ex had been beating on the front door of the home and broke a window in an attempt to gain entry. That is when she feared for her life and fired at him, hitting him in the upper left arm. Police said the abuser then fled, beat on the door of another homeowner and asked residents to call 9-1-1. The man was taken to a hospital and treated for his injuries before being released to the custody of the county detention center on unrelated outstanding probation warrants as well as a criminal trespass—family violence charge. The victim was uninjured. Police have called the incident an act of self-defense, thus the mother was not charged. (heritage.org; Grovetown, Ga.; 1/6/25)
