NRA Women The Armed Citizen Aiming A Pistol

A woman and her 26-year-old son were home one night when their security camera caught a strange man hopping their 6’ tall backyard fence and attempting to gain entry to the house through the back door. The mother retrieved her pistol, for which she had a permit, and told her son to get her rifle from the basement just in case the prowler attempted to break in elsewhere. The residents, who believed that the prowler may have left, opened their patio door to investigate and noticed their detached garage’s door was open. The intruder ignored multiple warnings and advanced toward the pair with his hands near his waist. The mother and son both opened fire. While police were not sure which self-defender delivered the fatal shot, neither will face charges for fatally shooting the intruder. Both residents were unharmed. Around 3 a.m. a woman returned home from work and got into an argument with her live-in boyfriend. He struck her in the face and hit her on the head multiple times and prevented her from escaping. She then attempted to retrieve her pistol from the bedroom and leave the house, but the boyfriend continued his aggression and would not let her leave. She pointed the firearm at him and pulled the trigger. The man grabbed the gun as it was firing and the bullet went through his hand. The woman ran outside screaming for help, prompting neighbors to call 9-1-1. The man was taken to the hospital and then arrested on his third domestic violence charge. The victim was not charged for defending herself in her home. (Cleveland19.com, Wickliffe, Ohio, 2/22/22)
