NRA Women The Armed Citizen Pistol Drawn

A mother was forced to draw her 9 mm pistol on her 42-year-old son after he attempted to burn her house down—while she was in it. Here’s what we know: The mother returned home after working a 14-hour shift to find her home in shambles, according to a local news report. At that point, an argument ensued between mother and son, which prompted the son to become irate and threaten to burn the house down. He allegedly threw gasoline from a can throughout her home, saying, “I’m going to light it on fire with you inside,” and then proceeded to start a fire in the laundry room. The mother and another person extinguished the fire, but her son returned for a second try at igniting the house in flames. That is when she drew her pistol and told her son, “Do it and I will unload this … on you … and I mean it,” according to reports. The son, who had been living with his mother since November 2024, refused to answer questions from deputies and medical staff. And even though he walked out of his hearing before a judge, he was charged with attempted murder; malicious injury to real property valued $2,000 or less; and second-degree arson. He faces up to 30 years in prison. (archive.ph/mxttS; 2/25/25; Orangeburg, S.C.)
