These accounts of brave women who protected themselves and their loved ones with a firearm appeared in an earlier edition of The Armed Citizen®.

A woman was assaulted by her ex-boyfriend when she attempted to retrieve their three young children and some of her belongings from his house. She was able to leave, but came back later with a female friend for support. When the women arrived, the man began hitting and threatening his ex-girlfriend. Upon seeing that her abusive ex was armed, the woman drew her firearm. They exchanged gunfire, which resulted in all three adults being shot. The two women, who suffered non-life-threatening injuries, were able to drive to a nearby Waffle House for help. The ex-boyfriend was later discovered at a hospital where he had gone to be treated for his wounds. It was there that he was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and felon in possession of a handgun. (fox17.com, Nashville, Tenn., 03/10/22)

A woman asleep in her bed was awakened by someone was breaking into her house. The quick-thinking resident was able to retrieve her AR-15 and chase off the intruder by firing multiple shots. Luckily, she was unharmed and neighbors told news crews that they were relieved she was able to defend herself. (fox4now.com, Lee County, Fl., 03/16/22)
