The following account of a brave armed woman who defended her family appeared in an earlier edition of The Armed Citizen®:
A southern Indiana woman came to the defense of her husband when she reportedly saw a man drive through their front yard, exit the vehicle, force her husband to the ground, and point a gun at his head. The wife wasted no time in grabbing her own gun and shooting the man, WDRB-TV reported. The incident began around 6:30 p.m., when officers responded to a 9-1-1 call, according to an Indiana State Police news release. When authorities arrived, they found the 45-year-old man in the yard with a gunshot wound. He he was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. According to reports, investigators said the aggressor drove through the yard, grabbed the homeowner, forced him to the ground, and pointed a gun at his head. The homeowner's wife was witnessing the incident from inside, so in fear for her husband’s life, grabbed her handgun, went outside and shot the man. State police investigators told a local TV station that the man was well known in the area and has a criminal background. It was also learned that he supposedly had once dated the homeowner's daughter, who no longer lives at the home. Police were unable to identify the reason he targeted her father. The case will ultimately be turned over to the county prosecutor's office, according to the state police news release. (WDRB.com; Louisville, Ky.; 8/8/23)
