A home invader attacked a woman in her bed on a Tuesday morning. She called 9-1-1, but was forced to shoot the intruder, who ended up being her new neighbor. She had injuries consistent with an attack and is not facing charges for legally defending herself in her home with a handgun. (nypost.com, Clearwater, Fl., 06/22/22)

A woman was forced to protect her two small children from harm on Easter Sunday, fatally shooting her boyfriend during an argument. The man was discovered unresponsive on the floor near a bedroom door, and was found to have been armed. After an investigation, the shooting was ruled justifiable. The children were unharmed and the woman is OK. (al.com, Birmingham, Ala., 04/19/22)

A woman's ex-boyfriend had been stalking her, and one night broke into her home armed with a pry bar, handcuffs, binoculars and knives. Forcing himself on her, she fought back and ordered him to stop. When he persisted, she fired her handgun in self-defense, hitting him in his jaw. The intruder allegedly spit out four or five teeth. The woman held the man at gunpoint until police arrived. The shooting was ruled justifiable, as the woman had a history of issues with the stalker. Investigators determined she was within her rights to protect herself in her own home. The man was taken to the hospital and then arrested, charged with domestic violence, 2nd degree stalking and attempted burglary. (elmoreautauganews.com, Elmore, Ala., 05/04/22)
