A woman was forced to protect her two small children from harm on Easter Sunday, fatally shooting her boyfriend during an argument. The man was discovered unresponsive on the floor near a bedroom door, and was found to have been armed. After an investigation, the shooting was ruled justifiable. The children were unharmed and the woman is OK. (al.com, Birmingham, Ala., 04/19/22)

A woman's ex-boyfriend had been stalking her, and one night broke into her home armed with a pry bar, handcuffs, binoculars and knives. Forcing himself on her, she fought back and ordered him to stop. When he persisted, she fired her handgun in self-defense, hitting him in his jaw. The intruder allegedly spit out several teeth. The woman held the man at gunpoint until police arrived. The shooting was ruled justifiable, as the woman had a history of issues with the stalker. Investigators determined she was within her rights to protect herself in her own home. The man was taken to the hospital and then arrested, charged with domestic violence, second degree stalking and attempted burglary.(elmoreautauganews.com, Elmore, Ala., 05/04/22)

What would you do if you arrived home at 1 a.m. and discovered four would-be burglars in your home? That’s the scenario a Philadelphia woman was forced to deal with when she returned to her apartment. After a confrontation with the men in which the woman feared for her life, she drew her firearm and shot two of them. All the intruders then fled the scene, but they didn’t get far. According to reports, when police arrived, they discovered the woman outside standing over one of the suspects, a 48-year-old man who had gunshot wounds to a hand and leg. A second 45-year-old suspect, suffering a gunshot wound to his back, was discovered only a few blocks away. Both were taken to hospital for treatment and were later charged with burglary and related offenses. A weapon was also discovered. The remaining men were still at large as of this posting. Reports indicated that the woman’s actions self-defense are considered self-defense, and thus she won’t be charged with a crime. According to interviews with neighbors, she has their full support. "I think she did the right thing," a neighborhood resident told a local TV station. "This is my home, this is my safe haven ... so to have somebody in my house when I get there, why not?" (6abc.com; Philadelphia, PA; 7/16/23)
