NRA Women The Armed Citizen Pistol Drawn

The following accounts of brave armed women who defended themselves appeared in earlier editions of The Armed Citizen®.

A woman was attacked by another woman inside a grocery store at 10 a.m., completely unprovoked. The victim, who was legally armed with a handgun, feared for her life and fired once at her attacker. The assailant was shot in the leg and later arrested for assault causing bodily injury. After interviewing witnesses and reviewing store surveillance footage, police determined that the victim acted in self-defense. (foxnews.com, Des Moines, Iowa, 06/19/22)

A 21-year-old woman broke into an elderly couple’s home one night, seemingly randomly. The 72-year-old male resident was drawn into a physical altercation with the intruder, which prompted the 69-year-old female resident to retrieve a firearm. In fear for their lives, she fatally shot the woman attacking her husband. The homeowners were not charged, and police are still investigating the reason why the woman targeted their home.(Cleveland19.com, Olmsted, Ohio, 09/20/21)
