NRA Women The Armed Citizen Shooting A Pistol

The following accounts of braved armed women who protected themselves and their families appeared in earlier editions of The Armed Citizen®.

An elderly woman called 9-1-1 to report a stranger attempting to force his way into her home, but before police could arrive, he broke a window and gained entry. The intruder, whose hands were now bloody, confronted the resident. Fearing for her safety, she shot the man, causing him to flee. Before he was finally apprehended by police, the suspect had broken into two more homes. The first officer on the scene tased the man twice—to no effect. The aggressor then began violently attacking the officer. Backup soon arrived and authorities took the assailant into custody. The sheriff later declared, “I have much respect for the brave actions of the woman for protecting herself from a criminal who entered her home.”(tillamookcountypioneer.net, Tillamook, Ore., 1/5/22)

A man broke into a Texas home around 8 p.m. one evening, and soon found out he had chosen poorly. After forcing himself inside, an armed resident confronted him. She ordered the intruder to leave, but he did not comply, which prompted her to fire once, striking the suspect. The wounded man was taken to the hospital and arrested. The sheriff said, “This entire incident is an excellent example of the importance of our 2nd Amendment.” (theblaze.com, Harrison County, Texas, 3/7/22)
