A man who smashed through the window of a house occupied by a woman and her children, terrifying them, is lucky he wasn’t shot dead. The woman, who feared for her life and that of her children was able to grab her gun and fire at the man, according to reports.

The uninjured man ran away but was found and detained by police a short time later. Prior to his arrest at the police station, authorities discovered one gram of MDMA (commonly known as Ecstasy) in his right sock, according to the police arrest report. The man was booked into a correctional center, where he is facing charges of burglary of an occupied dwelling, five counts of child abuse with no great bodily harm, possession of a controlled substance, criminal mischief, and resisting an officer without violence. The intruder’s record extends to 2013 when he was arrested for burglary. He was also out on probation for a case of indecent exposure, records show. (Local10.com; Homestead, Fla.; 8/28/23)
