If you don’t know who Lena Miculek is, allow us to introduce you: She’s the pro shooter so fast and accurate that even Jerry Miculek—who is, yes, her dad—is impressed. If you don’t know what The Gundies are, a quick primer: The Gundies are annual community-voted awards that spotlight the world’s best firearm-centric content creators and influencers. So what does it take to win a Gundie?

Over the last 35 years or so, America has seen a very quiet revolution: the state-by-state growth of Second Amendment freedom in the form of Right-to-Carry (RTC) laws. Women in particular have reason to celebrate and support these laws (and ask that their representatives do the same) for a simple reason: Right-to-Carry laws are women’s rights laws. Specifically, these laws support women in our most vulnerable state: as people for whom “Refuse To Be A Victim” isn’t just a state of mind, but an ongoing situation. Here’s why.

Virginia anti-Second Amendment politicians aren’t interested in tackling crime or helping the Virginia economy recover. Instead, in an almost comically tone-deaf move, these politicians have made it harder—yes, harder!—for women to protect themselves and their families against violent criminals. During the 2020 session, the General Assembly passed a bill to tighten the training requirements for getting a conceal-carry permit by taking away the option to attend an online-safety course. Why are Virginia’s Democrats making it harder for women to defend themselves?

Shoot Like a Girl’s “Home of the Brave” tour is coming to a town near you! Women ages 16 and older will be afforded the opportunity to shoot inside Shoot Like A Girl’s semi-tractor trailer mobile range. Attendees gain experience in handling and shooting handguns, long guns and compound bows using state-of-the-art technology. Onsite, at the Shoot Like A Girl Gun Counter, people can also compare a variety of firearms including revolvers, semi-automatic pistols, shotguns, and rifles from Shoot Like A Girl’s firearms partners.  New and experienced shooters are invited to attend. Check out their spring 2021 calendar here!

Meanwhile … A 25-year-old woman was waiting at a bus stop when a man approached her, displayed a weapon and attempted to rob her. Unfortunately for him, the woman was a licensed concealed-carry holder and, in fear for her life, drew her firearm and shot the man once, striking him. Surveillance cameras located at a nearby pharmacy documented the lead up to the exchange, as well as the aftermath. Our weekly women-only Armed Citizen column has the full story.

Ah, sports. The perfect excuse to drink, eat and watch men in tights. The ballet doesn’t encourage betting and bull horns, now does it? Whether you’re a die hard fan or waiting for the half-time show, you can’t watch the big game without sustenance. If your freezer is full or you recently scored a fresh harvest, these game-meat appetizers are sure to get you in the mood for food!

If you’re new to the process, flying with a gun is actually a lot easier than you’d probably expect. You need a couple of specific gear items, and you need to know the proper procedure, but it’s a relatively simple process. Contributor Jo Deering has flown with long guns and handguns dozens of times around the country and around the world; here’s her advice.

Leupold's latest entry for America's rifle hunters is the new VX-3HD line of scopes. The VX-3HD series was designed for hunters who need to take shots at dawn and dusk ... which is, of course, all of us. What else do we need in our optics? Toughness and light weight. That's what the VX-3HD, just launched for 2021, is here to deliver. What's more, it's coming at an MSRP that's far lower than what you might expect to pay for optics of this quality. Learn more about this affordable optic here.
