All gun owners should consider how best to safely store our guns based on our needs, and the options are myriad: display safes, locking safes, safes that bolt to the floor and safes that don't look like safes. Then there's the SnapSafe Vault Door solution, which is both simple and revolutionary: Install a SnapSafe vault door on the room of your choice, and that entire room is now a safe. Naturally, the company is leery about making defensive claims, but we here at NRA Women also must speculate that installing a SnapSafe vault door in an interior room would make that room a safer place for you to be in case of home invasion, wouldn't it?

While freestanding safes or lockboxes deliver excellent security, a vault room provides advantages that neither of those options offers. First, a vault room allows a single location for safekeeping valuables. And secure storage space is the perfect place for displaying guns, art, jewelry or collectibles. The vault room door secures an existing room, rather than taking up space, like a safe. Finally, a vault room door costs thousands less than other comparable solutions.

As a gun- and homeowner, you may have questions about the installation. SnapSafe affirms that as long as you have two people, the included instructions, tools and mounting hardware will make installation a snap (sorry about that pun). The vault doors are available in three styles to suit any floorplan and preferences: two 32-inch wide vault doors in either in-swing or out-swing configurations; and a 36-inch wide in-swing door. The 12-gauge steel SnapSafe Vault Door and frame boasts a total of 18 bolts—nine locking bolts and nine deadbolts lock into the frame, plus a steel-trimmed exterior. Each SnapSafe Vault Door comes standard with a UL listed digital lock with EMP-proof mechanical key backup.

What about the price? If you've been keeping current with the cost of gun safes, you no doubt know that pricing can range from "no more than regular furniture costs" to "once I pay for this safe, I won't have any money left to put in it." SnapSafe vault doors have an MSRP of approximately $1,700 (which is about a happy medium in terms of cost), and are guaranteed for life. SnapSafe.com
