We're used to bringing news about increased mag capacity in smaller pistols, but for many in restrictive states, this news will be welcome.

Springfield Hellcat Pro 10 Round

When it comes to magazine capacity for compact and micro compact pistols, we’re accustomed to bringing you news about increased round capability. This time we are reporting that one of the most popular pistols in its category—the Springfield Armory Hellcat Pro 9mm—is now being offered with a 10-round max magazine. This solves a problem for many who live in locations where mag capacities are restricted to 10 rounds.

While we’re at it, we might as well expand on what else makes the Hellcat a great gun for women who carry concealed. After all, the 9mm pistol showed up in sixth place in the top 10 in The Well Armed Woman’s annual survey of gun purchases for the year 2022—an extremely impressive showing.

At just 1" wide, the slim-line grip of the Hellcat feels superb in the hand, increasing contact and control, while the additional mass in the slide and barrel translates into reduced muzzle flip and faster follow-up shots.

The polymer frame of the pistol features what Springfield calls “Adaptive Grip Texture,” a seamless, pressure-activated texture featuring a pattern of staggered pyramid shapes. The taller pyramids have a flattened top to ensure comfort in the waistband, while the shorter pyramids come to a point and are engaged when the pistol is firmly gripped.

The new 10-round Hellcat Pro features an OSP (Optical Sight Pistol) configuration, with a slide milled with the Springfield Micro footprint that will accept Shield RMSc- and SMSc-pattern optics. This configuration is designed to direct mount optics for the lowest mount possible. Backing up your choice of optic is an excellent set of co-witnessing U-Dot sights, made up of a high visibility tritium & luminescent front sight paired with a Tactical Rack rear sight.

If you decide you want to mount a light or laser, the pistol features a versatile Picatinny rail on the dustcover portion of the frame.

“The Hellcat Pro delivers full-size performance in a concealable, CCW-ready package with unmatched handling characteristics,” says Steve Kramer, Springfield Armory’s vice president of marketing. “And now with the 10-round version, it’s available to an even broader range of EDC-enthusiasts.” MSRP is $649, comes with two magazines.
