A 33-year-old Kansas woman who was staying at a motel defended herself with her firearm after her boyfriend, 32, allegedly threatened her—and a motel manager—with a knife. According to local news reports, the incident started at about 6:30 p.m., when the man stole property from the girlfriend at knifepoint. The woman sustained minor injuries but at that point elected not notify police. It was when the knife-wielding boyfriend retuned later that evening that she feared for her life, prompting her to draw her gun and fire at him, striking him once. The man was taken to a hospital in critical condition. Upon discharge, the man will be arrested. The woman was not charged. (Kansas.com; 4/5/25; Wichita, Kansas.)
