NRA Women The Armed Citizen Drawing A Pistol

A woman who was being threatened by a man with a 9 mm pistol in the parking lot of her family business defended herself with a .22-cal. firearm. The woman had reportedly exited her vehicle, at which point the aggressor followed her and confronted her in front of the family market. A witness told police that the woman initially pushed the man and ordered him to leave her alone, but he ignored her demands, causing her to fear for her life. That is when she fired shots at him, striking him twice his abdomen and leg, according to reports. The man ran away but collapsed on a nearby street. Police recovered the suspect’s firearm and three bags of suspected crack cocaine under a nearby parked car where the man collapsed, according to local reports. Police also recovered nine .22-caliber shell casings at the scene of the shooting. A search of the suspect’s vehicle allegedly uncovered seven bags of suspected marijuana. The suspect was arraigned at the hospital on charges of aggravated assault, illegal possession of a firearm, firearms not to be carried without a license, possession of an offensive weapon, tampering with evidence, and possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. Bail was at $500,000. As of this posting, no charges had been filed against the woman. (Timesleader.com; 4/8/25; Wilkes-Barre, PA)
