NRA Women The Armed Citizen Shooting A Pistol

These accounts of brave women who defended themselves and their loved ones with a firearm appeared in a previous edition of The Armed Citizen®.

A Las Vegas woman shot and killed her boyfriend during a domestic dispute. Police said the woman called the police around 9:30 p.m. to report that her boyfriend was dead. After interviewing the woman, police believe the two were engaged in a fight when the man pulled out a knife. In fear for her life and that of her teenage daughter, who was also in the home, the woman was able to draw her gun and shoot him. The 58-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene from gunshot wounds. (8newsnow.com, Las Vegas, Nev., 8/17/22)

A 34-year-old pregnant woman and a 33-year-old man were engaged in an argument one morning when the man started to choke her. In fear for her and her unborn child’s life, the woman was able to reach a nearby gun and fire once at the man. The bullet went through both arms. Both were taken to hospitals for treatment. The man, who already violated an order to cease all communication with the woman a month prior, was slated to be arrested upon his release from the hospital. The man had previously plead guilty to a reduced charge of disorderly conduct, a fourth-degree misdemeanor, and was sentenced to 30 days in jail, with all but one day suspended. (cantonrep.com, Uniontown, Ohio., 7/29/22)
