NRA Women The Armed Citizen Drawing A Pistol

These accounts of brave women who defended themselves and their families with a firearm appeared in an earlier edition of The Armed Citizen®.

Residents of Alaska are accustomed to being prepared to defend themselves from the many potential four-legged encounters such as bears, but a 55-year-old woman was forced to shoot a two-legged trespasser with ill intent. When an intoxicated axe-wielding man broke in and threatened to kill her, the woman fired at him with a handgun. The perpetrator was taken to the hospital for treatment of his injuries. The homeowner did not face charges. (Kiro7.com,Wasilla, Alaska, 06/05/21)

An armed would-be robber tried to break into a Brooklyn apartment while the residents were home. A 36-year-old male resident attempted to keep the door closed as the intruder struggled to gain entry. The assailant began firing shots through the door, striking the man in the stomach; his 29-year-old wife was shot in the arm. The injured woman was able to retrieve her husband’s firearm and shoot the thug in the head. The couple’s child was in the apartment at the time, but was unhurt. The parents were taken to the hospital, and the invader was pronounced dead at the scene. (Explica.co, Williamsburg, N.Y., 06/04/21)
