The following accounts of brave armed women who defended themselves from domestic abuse appeared in earlier editions of The Armed Citizen®:
A man called 9-1-1 to report that he was shot in the head. When police officers arrived on the scene, they discovered that the gunshot victim had actually been strangling his wife until she was able to grab a gun and defend herself. The victim says that her husband threatened to kill her and, fearing for her life, she shot him in the head. The man has been arrested on a felony assault charge, and the victim is now safe. A woman allowed her ex-partner into her home to pick up his belongings, but he soon began to attack her, head-butting and choking her. The woman, whose two small children were in another room, was able to get away and retrieve a handgun she kept in the home. Fearing for her life and that of her children, the woman fired a shot, killing her aggressor. (abc13.com, Harris County, Texas, 05/10/21)
