A woman took matters into her own hands when a registered sex offender was breaking into her home.

Tucson, Arizona, woman took matters into her own hands by shooting a registered sex offender who was breaking into her home, according to reports.

Phoenix news reported that the incident occurred on a Friday at a home where a 54-year-old woman was home alone. It was then that a 42-year-old man allegedly tried to break into her home. When the woman saw him attempting to enter she began to yell at him to leave, but he reportedly continued to gain access to the home.

"The female armed herself with a handgun and fired a shot out of a window to attempt to scare the male away," investigators total local news. The would-be intruder then allegedly reached into the home and toward the woman to take the gun away, the station reported. That is when the homeowner, in fear for her life, fired at the man, fatally striking him.

The man reportedly succumbed to his wounds in the woman’s driveway. The woman was not hurt in the incident. According to reports by the sheriff’s department’s website, the aggressor turned out to be a registered sex offender in the state of Utah. The investigation remains ongoing, but as of this report, no arrests have been made. (fox10Phoenix; Tucson, Ariz.; 8/17/23)
