A woman was attacked by another woman inside a grocery store at 10 a.m., completely unprovoked. The victim, who was legally armed with a handgun, feared for her life and fired once at her attacker. The assailant was shot in the leg and later arrested for assault causing bodily injury. After interviewing witnesses and reviewing store surveillance footage, police determined that the victim acted in self-defense. (foxnews.com, Des Moines, Iowa, 06/19/22)

A jealous ex-boyfriend broke into a woman’s home around 3 a.m. in an attempt to kill her current boyfriend. As the two men struggled, the woman armed herself and shot the attacker, fearing for her boyfriend’s life. The intruder was taken to the hospital with serious injuries after the bullet passed through his arm and into his ribcage. The male victim sustained minor injuries from the attack. Initial findings suggest that the woman acted in self-defense to protect herself and her partner. (cowboystatedaily.com, Riverton, Wyo., 05/23/22)
