A pregnant Tennessee woman who was being assaulted in a domestic violence incident shot and killed her aggressor. According to a local news article, the shooting was ruled self-defense and the District Attorney’s office would not be pursuing charges. Reports said the woman was six months pregnant and there were two other children in the home. “She had no other choice but to defend herself. That is why people have guns. In this case, she used her firearm appropriately to defend not only herself, but her children,” the DA said. Additionally, the sheriff’s department posted on social media that physical evidence pointed to “multiple forms of assault, including being attacked with a knife, a pistol and strangulation.” In fear for her life, the life of her children and unborn child, she defended herself with a firearm.” The woman is reportedly a survivor of longtime domestic abuse before this violent incident. The sheriff told the press, “The safety and well-being of families in our community is our top priority. We will continue to provide support and resources to victims of domestic violence. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all involved as healing begins.” (wbbjtv.com; 4/23/25/; Crockett County, Tenn.)
