The following accounts of brave armed women who defended themselves and their families appeared in earlier editions of The Armed Citizen®:
A woman who had been arguing with her husband left their home to spend the night at a business the couple owned together. But the following morning the husband showed up at the business and began to beat her, threatening to kill her. The woman was armed and, fearing for her life, shot her husband in self-defense, fatally wounding him. The woman then sought help from another local business owner. The man called 9-1-1, and authorities responded to her place of business, where she had returned. The woman was still holding her handgun, and once she let go of it, was taken into custody. Police determined that the shooting was an act of self-defense, and the woman was not charged. (rdrnews.com; Roswell, N.M.; 1/24/23)
A 51-year-old man, armed with a shovel and a lug wrench, forced his way into the home of a Louisiana woman who was home with her two young children. The incident, which occurred at about 5 a.m., resolved when the woman allegedly shot the perpetrator, killing him. The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s office concluded that the case was likely a "homeowner exercising Second Amendment rights to protect herself and her children from a violent home invasion." It turns out that the intruder was out on parole after serving 20 years for armed robbery. He was also discovered to be connected to an alleged carjacking that took place just hours prior to the home invasion. (cbsnews.com; Tangipahoa Parish, La.; 1/10/23)
