These accounts of brave armed women appeared in earlier editions of The Armed Citizen®:

A man and a woman with a history of domestic incidents turned a confrontation into a violent scenario during which the man suffered a gunshot wound. Reports say the incident happened around 9:30 p.m. after the man knocked on the woman’s front door. After she answered, the two began to argue. Ultimately the man shot into her home, breaking a window. Fearing for her life, the woman retrieved her own gun and fired back, hitting him in his thigh. The man then shot at her again, but missed, so he left to seek medical help from a friend. The man was taken to a local hospital for treatment, and was later taken into police custody. The man’s handgun was recovered. The woman was not injured. (abc30.com; Fresno, CA; 5/5/23)

St. Louis homeowners will not face charges after shooting an intruder who was attempting to burglarize their home. Here’s what we know:
Police responded to calls around 4 a.m. about a suspect who had broken into the home. One of the homeowners fired at the intruder, wounding him. The injured suspect fled, and even passed the responding officers who were ordering him to stop. A K-9 eventually searched the vicinity, which enabled police to capture the badly injured suspect. He was taken to hospital in critical condition. Ultimately the man, who had prior burglary convictions, was charged with first-degree burglary, first-degree attempted burglary, and resisting arrest with a felony, according to reports. He reportedly was being held on a $200,000 cash-only bond. It was also discovered that the suspect had tried to enter another nearby home before deciding on his fateful target. A local attorney said the homeowner probably had a legal right to open fire: "In your home, all you need is a reasonable fear that you might get hurt." (theblaze.com; St. Louis, MO; 5/21/24)
