NRA Women The Armed Citizen Shooting A Pistol

These accounts of brave armed women who protected themselves and their families appeared in an earlier edition of The Armed Citizen®.

A 70-year-old woman and her 80-year-old husband were at home when a stranger broke into their house. The woman confronted the intruder and tried to get him to leave by swatting at him with a broom. However, the intruder said nothing and did not leave. The couple fired twice in the direction of the man without hitting him, but he still would not leave. He then advanced toward the woman as she repeatedly ordered him to stop. In fear for her life, she was forced to fire directly at the assailant, killing him. (foxnews.com, Orlando, Fl., 05/24/22)

A 51-year-old man with a history of physical violence and elder abuse was fatally shot by one of his victims, a 74-year-old woman who had received a restraining order against him. Around 12:40 a.m., the man again physically attacked the woman, forcing her to discharge her firearm at him, delivering a fatal wound. The incident was considered an act of self-defense, and the woman was not taken into custody. (mercurynews.com, Oakley, Calif., 05/20/22)
