Springfield Garrison Lede 3

Springfield Armory is justly famous for its award-winning family of 1911 pistols, and that family has just grown by one with the release of its new Garrison. This classic handgun design has been wildly popular for 110 years—and the engineers at Springfield know not to fix what "ain't broke." That doesn't mean that Springfield is ready to rest on its laurels; the Garrison is replete with 21st-century touches that enhance the time-tested design of the 1911. What's more, Springfield has this heirloom-quality handgun priced to beat inflation.

As you'd expect from such a classic design, the Garrison comes chambered in a classic defense round, the .45 ACP. It offers a 5" barrel for a long sight radius, which naturally boosts the accuracy of this already rock-solid design. The Garrison is constructed with a forged-steel frame, slide and barrel for durability—a Garrison owner can expect her 1911 to be just as ready for action in 2121 as it is today.

Springfield offers the Garrison in your choice of classic hot-salt-blued carbon steel or rust-resistant stainless-steel, and anyone who's already a fan of the 1911 platform will appreciate its traditional barrel bushing system and wooden furniture. The Garrison pistols feature attractive finishes made up of a smooth, matte finish on the rounds of the slide and frame, all complemented by polished flats that bring out the luster of the carbon or stainless steel.

That said, Springfield's engineers also know that the industry has made some important innovations in the last 110 years. Modern shooters will be grateful for the Garrison's high-visibility sights, extended thumb safety, thinline grips and other 21st-century enhancements. The Garrison's match-grade stainless steel barrel, skeletonized hammer and extended beavertail grip safety with memory bump are all part of the total performance package..

“The Garrison is designed to appeal to those who respect tradition and demand the quality for which Springfield Armory 1911 pistols are known,” says Springfield Armory’s Vice President of Marketing, Steve Kramer. “With a forged steel foundation for strength and heirloom-quality construction, this is a pistol that offers a modern take on a proven classic.” MSRP $800; $849 for stainless: Springfield-Armory.com
