NRA Women The Armed Citizen Shooting A Pistol

The following accounts of brave armed women who protected their families from harm appeared in earlier editions The Armed Citizen®:

A mother and her two children were asleep at home early one Monday morning while the father was at work, but were awakened by three intruders—including a woman—armed with a club, knife and dogs breaking into the home. The mother retrieved a gun, called her husband and then dialed 9-1-1. The assailants began to threaten the woman, using racial slurs, saying they were going to kill her and the children. The mother, in order to protect herself and her family, fired a shot at the intruders, causing them to flee. Officers arrested the suspects near the house. The family is physically OK, but the Oakland County Prosecutor said, "Hate has no place here in Oakland County, and I will do everything in my power to hold those who attempt to threaten or harm our residents accountable.” (nypost.com Walled Lake, Mich., 05/03/21)

A woman was home with her two children when she got into a fight with her ex-boyfriend. The man left but later returned and proceeded to hit and strangle the woman. Fearing for her life, the woman was able to arm herself and fire at the aggressor. The woman and her children were OK when officers arrived, however, the woman exhibited marks on her face and neck consistent with an assault. Once the assailant is released from the hospital, he is expected to be charged with aggravated domestic assault. (leader-call.com, Laurel, Miss., 04/16/21)
